So yes, today I will be talking about an issue which is pretty bitchy:
Transportation In Jakarta.
(Most of this post will just be about me ranting, so yeah.)
In Indonesia, having a driver is very normal. Actually alot of kids aren't allowed to go anywhere without their driver taking them. Wait. Or is it just me? Pretty much kind of just me.
My mom won't even
let me take public transportation. And I'm already 16. Going on 17. UGH.
So whenever I have to go anywhere, I have to wait for my driver, and my driver is uber busy taking my brother and mom everywhere so it pretty much sucks.
But the most suck-y part of being unallowed to take public transportation is: when you really just wanna get home after a long shitty day of school but your driver isn't there yet and you end up waiting for like 2 hours at the convenience store close to your school and by the time he gets there it's rush hour and the traffic jams are like hell and you end up getting home at like. 8 pm.
NOT BEING ALLOWED TO TAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION SUCKZZZZZ
BUT THEN. I found out about a local bus route that takes me from right in front of my school to around 1km to my house. AWESOME. When I asked my parents if I could take the bus, they said I could if I had a friend........fortunately, I actually
did find a friend with the same bus route!!! YEAY!!!!
But. The conversation went like this.
Me: Mom one of my friends takes the same bus route as me
Mom: Oh yeah
Me: Yeah so since I have a companion can I like take the bus home
Mom&Dad: NO
Me: WHAT WHY
Mom&Dad: just no
Me: BUT WHY I'M 16 I'M OLD ENOUGH AND THERES SOMEONE TO ACCOMPANY ME YOU DON'T HAVE TO SPOIL ME WITH A DRIVER YOU KNOW I WANNA BE INDEPENDENT
Dad: Well..........it's not that we're trying to spoil you
Mom: Uh huh
Dad: It's just the public transportation here is very lacking
Mom: Yup
Dad: And the security is so worrisome
Mom: So the point is you aren't allowed to take public transportation. Ever
WELL FUCK.
So there it is.
